The Studio

... Peter has long felt a need for a recording facility in Hong Kong with an emphasis on creative music rather than the pop industry machine. Nestled in the hills of Sai Kung, the studio is Peter¹s vision, realised. A generously sized "L" shaped room is for live playing, and features comfortable, yet controlled acoustics . Other highlights of the live room include a lively Yamaha C3 piano and gobos to modify the acoustic as needed. Large windows reveal picturesque views of the Sai Kung countryside.

The control room houses industry standard Pro Tools gear, and selected outboard by API, John Hardy and Avalon. Mics by Neumann, AKG, Coles, Microtech Geffel and Sennheiser round out the collection.

Recently, the studio was used to record music for the acclaimed initial releases of Fung Hang Record Ltd., launched in the summer of '03, and other high fidelity projects are in the works.

This year the studio hosted Guy LeClaire, where he recorded his solo project Xin Xin, which has been released to praise from local critics. In the coming months, the studio will be busy as Peter gears up for the next 1/Hr. Music release, film scores and other projects.

The studio is available for selected projects. Please contact Peter for details.

1/Hr. Music, the label

... is intended to be an outlet for musicians in the pacific rim area whose interests lie outside the mainstream. We hope to enable musicians to realise their vision and to help them to reach an audience that is interested in the new, unusual and experimental. There are no rigid stylistic criteria for a prospective 1/Hr. Music artist to adhere to, but we are looking for strong personal vision and innovative expression. Experimentation is also valued. In addition to the creative vision of Peter Scherr, 1/Hr. Music brings the splendid organisational talents of Cindy Mak to the foreground. Resources at our disposal include Peter¹s fine new studio, where a lot of the production will undoubtedly take place. Watch this space for more information on future productions.
